Edinburgh’s tram project will be completed on time and within budget, a new report has said.
The city council’s governance, risk and best value committee will tomorrow confirm the findings of a report which details the costs of the project so far. It reveals that £700 million has been spent on the project, out of a budget of £776m, with more than a year before the line is due to open.
The council report also says that most utility diversion works have now been completed, with only smaller street services remaining.
Work on the main trams depot at Gogar and a 1.6-mile section of track ending at Edinburgh Airport have been finished.
A section of line from Haymarket to Roseburn Junction is the next stretch scheduled for completion in the second quarter of this year, with the trams due to be up and running by summer next year.
