Edinburgh Airport has reopened after it was evacuated this morning after a “suspicious object”was found in the terminal.
Emergency services were called to the airport at around 7am and the top floor was evacuated while checks were carried out.
Hundreds of travellers stood in the car park for more than an hour.
They have since had a “phased return” back into the airport, while public transport services running to and from the terminal have resumed.
One passenger tweeted that the plane he had been sitting on was evacuated due to a “major security breach”.
A Police Scotland spokesman said: “Police Scotland can now confirm that the object found at Edinburgh Airport has now been inspected and is of no danger to the public.
“Operations at the airport have now returned to normal and those within the building are thanked for their patience and co-operation.”
Fire serices said later the incident had been a false alarm.
