extra Sunday train services linking Edinburgh to Stirling and Perth will start running from December.
ScotRail announced that an extra 15 trains would operate on the Edinburgh-Stirling route every Sunday under the operator’s expanded timetable.
Two new Sunday services will also link the Capital and Perth.
An hourly Fife Circle service – the route connecting Edinburgh to Kirkcaldy and Markinch – will also operate on Sundays for the first time.
The new timetable will start from December 8.
ScotRail managing director Steve Montgomery said: “We are confident that customers will welcome our expanded timetable, which helps meet the growing demand for rail travel.
“By opening up even more journey opportunities to the travelling public, we are continuing to deliver better links between Scottish communities.”
Transport Minister Keith Brown said: “These additional services mean passengers will be able to make even more use of Scotland’s railways in plenty of time for Christmas, and beyond.”
