Network Rail has announced that construction group Morgan Sindall will build the planned £25 million station at Haymarket.
The announcement came as the company revealed £55m of contracts under the Edinburgh Glasgow Improvement Programme (EGIP).
David Simpson, Network Rail route managing director for Scotland, said: “The investment announced today will transform Haymarket, delivering a facility which will better serve customers and offer the city as a whole a station it can be proud of.”
Transport Minister Keith Brown said: “The Scottish Government is committed to bringing tangible benefits to passengers across the country which will reduce journey times between Glasgow and Edinburgh. These works are a significant part of this, and I look forward to witnessing the progress made.”
