AN articulated lorry caused traffic chaos on a busy Edinburgh road after it became stuck under a low-lying bridge.
The driver tried to pass under the rail bridge at Cameron Toll roundabout – but the vehicle’s massive container proved too large and nearly detached in yesterday afternoon’s ill-fated scrape.
The incident, which happened at the Peffermill Road junction in the south of the city, caused bumper to bumper tailbacks from around 2pm yesterday after police imposed diversions. Normal traffic flow resumed an hour later after the lorry was removed. There were no reports of casualties.
The jam is the latest in a long series of incidents to hit the problem-prone bridge, including an incident in September (inset picture).
A police spokeswoman said: “We ask drivers to be aware of the height restriction.”
