AN 85-year-old woman who was killed after being run over by a reversing car, has been named by police.

Elizabeth Hossack, from Livingston, was killed in the accident on the town’s Golf Course Road at around 3.10pm yesterday. It is understood that the pensioner was struck by a Toyota Corolla reversing out of a drive in the street.

The road, which leads to Deer Park Country Club, was shut for around five hours.

Sergeant Neil Inglis said: “We are currently trying to establish the full circumstances surrounding this collision, which tragically resulted in an elderly woman’s death.

“Anyone with information that can assist us with our enquiries is asked to contact police immediately.”

Meanwhile, an appeal for witnesses was also launched after a schoolboy was hit by a van in Gorebridge.

The 13-year-old was rushed to the ERI after the accident outside the Scotmid store in the town’s Hunterfield Road, just before 8am yesterday.

Early morning commuters in the area at the time are being urged to come forward as the investigation continues.
