A NORWEGIAN passenger flight was forced to make an emergency landing at Edinburgh Airport this afternoon after a passenger on-board fell ill.

The Boeing 737 was flying from Bergen to Las Palmas but had to divert after a medical emergency was declared.

It is unclear what the nature of the problem was, but the passenger was rushed to the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary for treatment.

The plane has since left the airport for its original destination.
