RAIL commuters may face delays this afternoon after a vehicle crashed into a bridge forcing transport bosses to close the line.

A vehicle collided with a rail bridge near Murrayfield Stadium at around 12.15pm and is understood to have been driven off without reporting the incident.

No damage was sustained in the crash and, after an inspection, engineers reopened the line within minutes.

Although the closure caused some delays, Network Rail bosses do not believe they will be “signficant” and will not affect the rush-hour timetable.
