A SERIES of faults has caused chaos for train travellers in the Capital.
Thousands of commuters saw their trains delayed or cancelled after three Network Rail faults in 18 hours hit services between Edinburgh and Glasgow.
The first problem caused by a worn-out power cable at 3pm on Wednesday resulted in four trains being cancelled outright, ten not running their full route and scores of other services delayed by the ensuing congestion.
Network Rail said this was followed by the breakdown of a motor which moves points at a junction at Haymarket at 7.45am yesterday.
The third incident involved points breaking down at Glasgow Central – Scotland’s busiest station – just after 9:30am yesterday.
