POLICE say a second 21-year-old woman has died following a two-car crash on the A1 near Torness power station.
They launched a new appeal for witnesses after the woman succumbed to her injuries in hospital. Another 21-year-old woman died following the crash at around 7.40pm on Thursday night.
Three people were airlifted to hospital following the collision between a Ford Ka and a Ford Focus. In all, five people were trapped in the wreckage and had to be cut free by firefighters.
The police statement said: “Police Scotland is making a further appeal for witnesses after a 21-year-old female became the second casualty to succumb to her injuries following a road collision on Thursday on the A1 at Torness.
“Anyone with information can contact Police Scotland on 101, or anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
