A SWAN wandering along the M8 motorway had to be rescued - by a police officer named Lamb.

Officers were called shortly before midnight last night after receiving calls over a swan on the roadway.

Pc Stewart Lamb was able to gather up the animal and take it to safety.

Police said that no accidents or traffic hold-ups were caused by the bird’s intrusion onto the busy carriageway.

A Police Scotland spokesman: “Police were called to the M9 at Newbridge just before midnight last night after concerns were raised over the presence of a live swan on the carriageway.

“Officers attended at the scene and removed the swan from the road, before taking it to the safety of a nearby pond.”
