Train delayed after conductor ‘assaulted’

Police were called to a train at Linlithgow this morning after a conductor was allegedly assaulted on the Edinburgh to Dunblane service.

Officers from Police Scotland and British Transport Police attended Linlithgow Railway Station at around 9.30am.

The First Scotrail service was delayed for half an hour while officers conducted inquiries.

A British Transport Police spokesman said: “BTP officers were called to Linlithgow railway station, following reports of an assault on board a train.

“The train involved was the 9.05am Edinburgh to Dunblane service, which was held at the station while officers dealt with the incident.

“The matter was first reported to BTP at 9.28am and the train left the station at 10.06am. Enquiries are ongoing.”
