The east carriageway of Princes Street was closed this afternoon after a cyclist fell from his bike due an incident involving the tram tracks.

Traffic delays resulted following the incident which occurred shortly before 2pm at the junction with South St Andrew Street.

Emergency services raced to the scene and the east carriageway of Princes Street was closed.

It is understood the man has suffered mionor injuries to his hip and shoulder.

The road reopened shortly afterwards.

Cycling campaigner have previously highlighted tram tracks as a danger, with several high-profile incidents near Haymarket.
