RESIDENTS will be able to grill the city’s key officials over budget issues in a series of live question-and-answer sessions on social media starting from tomorrow.
In what could be considered one of the bravest, or most foolhardy, steps in the history of local government, transport and environment convener Councillor Lesley Hinds will be the first key council figure to field questions over Twitter on her portfolio in a special one-hour session. People will be able to give feedback and pose questions on any transport or environment issue linked to next year’s budget, including spending on cycling, Sunday parking charges and recycling changes.
The session is part of the authority’s efforts to consult as widely as possible on budget matters. However, queries on the tram debacle are also likely to figure large.
Tomorrow’s session at @Edinburgh_CC with Cllr Hinds will run from 4-5pm.
