Two drivers have been rushed to hospital after a five-car collision in Bonnyrigg.
Traffic was shut down for over an hour along Hillhead whilst emergency services tried to clear the incident, which occurred just after 9.30am this morning.
Two ambulances attended the scene and transported drivers of two of the cars to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary, where both were treated for potential neck injuries.
A police spokeswoman said it was thought one of the drivers may have suffered minor injury due to the way in which her air bag had deployed.
The other drivers involved in the collision were uninjured.
Fire crews from Dalkeith and Musselburgh aided police in uplifting one of the cars from the road, and it was reopened to traffic just before 11am.
