A KNIFE-wielding robber suspected of striking twice in 50 minutes attacked two women while trying to snatch their bags.
Detectives are investigating the incidents separately but believe they could be linked.
In the first incident, a 59-year-old woman was walking in Blackford Road at about 11.30pm on Monday when she was grabbed from behind by a suspect who tried to take her bag.
Fifty minutes later, a 50-year-old woman was walking in St Peter’s Place at Horne Terrace in Fountainbridge when a man approached her from behind, pulled out a small knife and demanded her bag.
In the first instance it is unclear if the suspect is male or female, but they are described as white, 5ft 5in, between 18 and 20, and wearing a grey hooded top with an Edinburgh accent.
In the second incident the man is described as white, between 18 and 25, slim build and around 5ft 10in tall. .
