TWO people sustained burns and five dogs died during a fire in East Lothian.
The fire brigade received the call just after midnight to attend the blaze at a scrap dealer yard in East Fortune.
A caravan within the Paxton Metals site was completely destroyed during the fire, while the Border Terrier dogs failed to escape.
The victims – a man and a woman both aged 47 – were taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary at Little France for treatment to the burns they received on their hands.
They were also understood to be suffering from smoke inhalation.
This morning the fire service said the pair were burned as they tried to remove cylinders from the scene.
A spokeswoman said: “The cause of the fire is still being investigated. The caravan was completely destroyed.”
