Two police officers hurt in Edinburgh crash

A police car flipped onto its roof after crashing while on its way to an incident in Edinburgh.

The accident happened on Duddingston Park North, near the Wisp Junction, at around 4.20pm. The two officers inside the vehicle rushed to hospital by ambulance, but a police spokesman insisted neither had been seriously hurt.

Road closures remain in place at Niddrie Mains Crossroads as police work to clear the road.

A police spokesman said: “Police in Edinburgh attended a road traffic accident involving a police vehicle.

“The incident occurred today at 4.20pm on Duddingston Park North, near the Wisp Junction.

“Two officers were in the vehicle at the time of the accident. They have been taken to the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary by the Scottish Ambulance Service as a precaution.

“Road closures are in place at Niddrie Mains Crossroads.”
