TWO people have been treated for smoke inhalation after fires in the Capital.

Firefighters were called at 7pm on Friday after a fire broke out in the ground-floor living room at an address in Restalrig Crescent.

A woman was evacuated and treated for smoke inhalation by the ambulance service.

Appliances from Marionville, Tollcross and McDonald Road attended the blaze, which was doused by 7.45pm. The cause of the fire is not known.

Crews from McDonald Road and Marionville also attended a fire in a microwave at a house in Cable Wynd, Leith, just after 6.30pm on Friday.

A blaze was distinguished before the fire service arrived and a man received oxygen therapy at the scene. The incident was over within 45 minutes.
