UNISON is to hold a series of meetings and rallies this month in the run up to Edinburgh City Council’s decision on privatising community services.
The union will hold a discussion tomorrow at 11am on The Mound then work its way around the city centre leafleting shoppers.
The union, of which a large number of council workers are members, will also hold a debate on Monday, October 24 at 7pm at Edinburgh University’s Appleton Tower. Representatives from the council will be taking part in a public debate with anti-privatisation campaigners ahead of the decision on whether to hire private firms to run services such as refuse collection.
Unison is also urging council workers and members of the public to hold a rally outside the city chambers on Thursday, October 27, between 8.30 and 10am, as councillors debate the future of the city’s services at the monthly full council meeting.
