RESEARCHERS have discovered that antioxidant-rich watercress, often labelled a superfood, can alleviate the natural stress put on a person’s body by a workout.

According to a new study from scientists at Napier University and a team led by Dr Gareth Davison at the University of Ulster, eating watercress can prevent some of the damage caused by high-intensity exercise and help to maximise the benefits of a tough workout.

Napier’s Dr Mark Fogarty said: “A relatively small amount of watercress can help raise the levels of important antioxidant vitamins which may help protect our bodies.”
