ONE of Edinburgh’s busiest city centre roads has been re-opened after a bus driver was taken to hospital.

Police were called to Lothian Road about 12.40pm after the driver fell ill behind the wheel.

Officers closed lanes near the junction of West Approach Road while the man was given CPR by paramedics at the scene.

The driver has since been taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary where he is receiving further treatment.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “No other individuals were injured during this incident and the road was reopened at 1.10pm after the bus was cleared.”
