A WOMAN has been assaulted on Leith Walk as she made her way home in the early hours of this morning.
The 32-year-old victim was walking south on Leith Walk, near to Lorne Street, around 3.30am when she was attacked by a man, who knocked her to the ground and continued to attack her.
The police were called and arrived on the scene where they arrested the man.
He is described as white, in his 40’s, 5ft 8in, brown hair in a ponytail, wearing a blue and white checked shirt, dark blue t-shirt, and blue jeans.
Officers are now keen to trace possible individuals who may have been in the area and witnessed this attack.
Detective Sergeant Lynsey Thomson said: “The woman received minor injuries as a result of this attack, but was left extremely distressed.
“We are keen to trace anyone who was in the Leith Walk area around Lorne Street on Thursday morning. Anyone with any other information relevant to this investigation is also asked to come forward.”
