A PENSIONER was knocked over in the street when a teenager tried to grab her handbag.
The 78-year-old woman managed to hold onto her bag during the struggle in Windsor Drive, Penicuik, at around 1.15pm on Tuesday.
Police said the assailant then made off empty-handed towards Edinburgh Road.
He is described as slim-built, white, between 5ft 2in and 5ft 4in tall with fair hair. He was wearing a grey hooded top with blue lining and grey trousers or jogging bottoms.
Detective Sergeant Dave Reilly, of Police Scotland, said: “I am keen to speak to anyone who has information that can help us find this teenager. The woman was understandably distressed as a result of this callous act.”
