A WOMAN has admitted committing a sex act on a man in the grounds of a Lothians high school.
Karen Cosgrove, 35, performed the indecent act while children played nearby at Ross High School in Tranent.
Solicitor Colm Dempsey told Haddington Sheriff Court his client admitted her guilt, but argued that she should not be included on the sex offenders’ register when she is sentenced later this year.
Mr Dempsey said: “It is my position that the sex offenders’ register was not designed for people like Ms Cosgrove.”
Cosgrove, from Tranent, appeared at the court on Wednesday and pleaded guilty to performing a sexual act on Kevin Connolly at the school on June 28.
Connolly has denied a charge against him, and is due to appear at the court in December.
Sentencing on Cosgrove has been deferred to the same date as Connolly’s next court appearance so both cases can run alongside each other.
