A woman was rescued in the early hours of this morning after falling onto rocks below the promenade at Seafield.

Fire crews were called at 6.18am to the sea front near the Edinburgh Cat and Dog Home on Seafield Road to help the woman, who had fallen 10ft onto rocks.

Rescue teams equipped with rope lines from Tollcross and Newcraighall fire stations were able to pull the woman to safety.

She was treated by paramedics at the scene.
