A woman has been rescued by passing cyclists after she jumped into an Edinburgh reservoir to try to retrieve her dog.
Emergency services were dispatched after she ran into difficulty in the Threipmuir Reservoir, in the Pentland Hills Regional Park near Balerno, Edinburgh, at around 10.42am this morning.
A water rescue team was sent by Fire Scotland’s local division, but they arrived to find the woman had been pulled out of the water with the assistance of two passing cyclists.
The 46-year-old woman was treated on the scene for cold and shock by fire crews, and later checked over by paramedics.
The woman did not require hospital treatment.
The condition of the dog has not been recorded by emergency services.
