POLICE are appealing for help to find a woman reportedly seen in distress by a roadside in Midlothian.
Police received several calls from witnesses stating they had seen a woman in bushes by the side of the A68 near Fordel, at around 7.35pm on Wednesday night.
The woman appeared to be distressed. She was being coaxed out by a man and they appeared to be arguing.
When officers arrived on the scene they found no one matching the description in the area.
The woman is described as white, in her 20s, black hair in a ponytail, wearing a black top or jacket and blue jeans.
The man is described as white, in his 20s, and wearing a dark t-shirt.
Officers are now keen to trace possible individuals who may have been in the area and witnessed this attack.
Police Inspector Michelle Ritchie said: “We are keen to trace the woman who was spotted by the roadside near Fordel in some distress. Several witnesses were concerned enough to phone the Police, but we are looking for more information to find out the circumstances.”
