A WOMAN smuggled drugs into prison after being threatened with violence, a court heard.
Lillian Melvin, 41, was told she’d be beaten up if she didn’t pass heroin to a prisoner in Addiewell.
But she panicked when she saw police in the visitor reception and aroused suspicion by hiding something in her hand.
Prison officers found she was holding two “tenner bags” of the class A drug.
Livingston Sheriff Court was today told the heroin would fetch £100 in prison.
Melvin, of Calder Park, Wester Hailes, admitted being concerned in the supply of heroin. Sheriff Susan Craig put her under social work supervision for two years.
