A FOOTBALL tournament run by the world’s oldest club has netted over £1000 for the Sick Kids Foundation.
Eight teams competed in the inaugural day-long Foot Ball Club of Edinburgh challenge tournament which took place at Forrester’s High School, Broomhouse Road, and saw Westside FC lift the cup after defeating Boca Juniors on penalties in a thrilling final.
The other teams in the tournament were The Foot Ball Club of Edinburgh, Abbey Athletic, Edinburgh Athletic, Foot Ball Club of Edinburgh Legends, Hibeernian and Attimo Goccia.
Sunday’s event was organised by Ben Kivlin, chairman of the Foot Ball Club of Edinburgh, which was established in 1824 and claims to being the oldest football club in the world.
Each team sought sponsorship, resulting in just under £1100 going to the foundation, which was set up in 1992 to support the work of the Royal Hospital for Sick Children.
