Tributes have been paid to a promising footballer who was found dead at his home.
Blair McEwan, 23, of Colstoun Mains Cottages, Haddington, had played for Junior side Haddington Athletic and was due to represent Dunbar United this coming season.
His body was found at his home at 1.30am on Sunday. Police said there were no suspicious circumstances.
Dunbar United manager Geoff Jones paid tribute to the youngster. He said: “Although he had only been with us for a matter of weeks, he had already made a positive impression with his new teammates and will be sorely missed by everyone at the club.”
Former Haddington coach Derek Aitken described the late Knox Academy pupil as “a great wee bubbly character”.
The midfielder worked at McConechy’s Tyre and Exhaust Centre in Haddington as a commercial breakdown fitter.
Manager Derek Ross said he was “part of the family” and would be “sorely missed”.
Mr McEwan leaves behind his mother and father, Dorothy and Bobby, and brother and sister Neil and Sheenarose.
A private funeral will be held on Monday along with a service of remembrance at Haddington’s West Church.
The service will start at 12.30pm and all family and friends are welcome.
