Musselburgh man charged after drugs operation

A MAN from Musselburgh has been arrested and charged under the Misuse of Drugs Act thanks to an intelligence-led operation in East Lothian.

Yesterday, police attended an address on Macbeth Moir Road, where they recovered 55 mature cannabis plants, with an estimated street value of £12,000.

The 29 year-old male was arrested and reported to the Procurator Fiscal.

Sergeant Jonathan Fleetwood, said: “Thanks to vital intelligence gathered from the local community we have prevented a substantial quantity of harmful drugs from reaching our streets.

“Tackling those involved in the sale and production of drugs remains a top priority for police in East Lothian and we’re committed to addressing this issue head-on.

“I would urge anyone who has information about drug dealing in their area to come forward immediately.

“Rest assured that we will treat your report with the utmost seriousness and will not pass on your personal details.
