EDINBURGH Airport is understood to have stepped up security in the wake of this morning’s terrorist attacks in Brussels.

All flights to and from the Belgian capital have been cancelled - with Brussels international airport shut until 6am tomorrow.

A spokesman for Edinburgh Airport said they were working with Police Scotland to ensure minimum disruption to passengers.

But Police Scotland declined to reveal details of their security measures, citing “operational reasons”.

A number of people were killed or seriously injured in this morning’s blasts at Zaventem airport and Maelbeek metro station.

Belgium has now raised its terror threat to the highest level.
