ROADS around the Scott Monument on Princes Street have re-opened after police dealt with an incident.

The street had been closed in both directions following reports of concern for a woman’s welfare on the Scott Monument.

Buses and trams were diverted while emergency services deal with the incident which began around 5pm.

A spokeswoman for Police Scotland said: “Police are in attendance on Princes Street following reports of concern for the safety of a woman on the Scott Monument.

“A cordon is currently in place with traffic unable to pass between the Waverley Bridge and the Mound.”
