The incident took place on the westbound carriageway of the A1 near Old Craighall at about 6.10am.

Following the collision, the inside lane of the carriageway was closed, causing long delays, with traffic backed up as far as Bankton Junction, near Meadowmill.

A Vauxhall Corsa and Volkswagen GT were involved in the crash with both vehicles being removed from the scene.

Police have confirmed that no one was hurt, however, fuel spilt on the road resulted in a lengthy closure.
