AN armed raider made off with a three-figure sum after robbing a bookmakers in Leith.

The man followed a shop worker into William Hill, in Portland Place, at around 8.40am on Monday before threatening him with a knife and demanding cash.

Police said the suspect was white, around 5ft 10in tall, with a thin build and a dark coloured beard.

He was wearing a dark bomber jacket, dark trousers, dark shoes, a dark beanie hat and dark gloves.

Detective Sergeant Keith Fairbairn, of Gayfield Police Station, said: “We’re appealing for anyone who might’ve seen a man fitting this description hanging outside the shop around 8.40am, or in the area afterwards.”
