THREE dogs from the Lothians have reached the final stages of VisitScotland’s prestigious Ambassadogs competition.

Originally, six dogs were to be shortlisted for the title of the nation’s canine ambassador, but the competition was so fierce that nine dogs ended up making it to the final stages.

Among them are two dogs from Edinburgh – Sydney, a four-year-old pug, and Casper, a three-year-old West Highland Terrier.

Joining them is Cassie, a three-year-old Patterdale terrier/collie cross from Haddington.

The pooch chosen by the judges to fulfil the role will have a ‘nose’ for the best food and drink and a ‘tail’ for adventure.

The four-legged friend will follow in his or her owner’s footsteps to take in everything Scotland has to offer – which will all be documented on social media.
