A man has been arrested and charged following a number of assaults and robberies in the city centre over the weekend

A 38-year-old man was assaulted on Lothian road whilst a 21-year-old was attacked and robbed on Princes Street in the early hours of Saturday 16th July.

A 24-year-old has since been detained and subsequently charged.

Police are currently pursuing various lines of inquiry to identify another man believed to have been involved and are also looking to trace other victims or witnesses.

Officers have appealed to anyone with information to contact police immediately.
