Firefighters have tackled a blaze during a break-in at a Whitburn pub.
The Clachan Bar on West Main Street was broken into at around 5.45am on Saturday, and a fire was set inside, causing damage.
Officers are now urging anyone who can assist with their enquiries to come forward.
Detective Constable Barry Carlin of Livingston CID said: “We are still trying to establish the full circumstances surrounding this wilful fire-raising but thankfully no-one was injured as a result of the fire.
“It was quickly brought under control by emergency services, however the consequences of this act could have been far worse.
“We are keen to hear from anyone who may have seen anything suspicious at the time of the incident, and similarly for anyone with any further information relevant to this investigation to contact police immediately.”
