Rangers' Lafferty aims to profit from Cousin move

KYLE LAFFERTY hopes Daniel Cousin's move to Hull opens the door for him to stake a claim for the main striker's berth at Rangers.
Cousin's last appearance in a Light Blue jersey saw him score the opener against Celtic at Parkhead as the Ibrox side earned a convincing 4-2 win over the Clydesdale Bank Premier League champions.
Not even his second-half dismissal could spoil an impressive display of forward play or dissuade Barclays Premier League newcomers Hull from making a bid for his services.
Lafferty, 20, who watched from the bench as Cousin ran the Celtic defence ragged at times, admits he may benefit from the loss of the Gabon striker with Kilmarnock due to come calling to Ibrox tomorrow.
He said: "It's a big loss for Rangers. He's a good player and you've seen what he could do against Celtic. But it gives me a chance to prove to the manager that I can fill in for him.
Newly-crowned Clydesdale Bank manager of the month Jim Jefferies has a Killie side full of confidence, with the Ayrshire club yet to concede a goal this season. But performances have pleased him even more than the points.
"It's not just the points on the board, it's the way we have played," he said.
