WALES fans cannot have a prouder Welshman to lead their team against Germany tonight than Craig Bellamy.
The complex and controversial striker may not be everyone's image of a studious type but he is now, literally, the man who wears his Welsh heart under his sleeve, if not on it.

Cardiff-born Bellamy has a new tattoo on his right arm depicting Welsh
legend Owain Glyndwr and has revealed he has been studying Welsh history. Glyndwr was the last native prince of Wales and led the Welsh revolt in the 1400s against English rule.

Bellamy has adopted him as his hero to inspire him when he leads Wales into combat and they will need all the help they can get tonight against Germany in Monchengladbach for a World Cup Group Four qualifier.

Meanwhile, captain Aaron Hughes is hoping Northern Ireland can re-ignite their World Cup qualifying campaign tonight against San Marino at Windsor Park.

The Fulham defender said: "Everyone knows what their job is and what is expected of them."

Over the border, Republic of Ireland manager Giovanni Trapattoni will hand 20-year-old Manchester United midfielder Darron Gibson a key role in tonight's qualifier against Cyprus at Croke Park.
