RYAN FORD today quit Edinburgh Capitals to join ambitious Scottish Premier League ice hockey side Braehead Paisley Pirates, writes NIGEL DUNCAN.
The capture of the experienced netminder is the first new signing by Pirates' new player/director of hockey, Dino Bauba.

The Lithuanian hit-man noted Ford's quality while he was with Capitals and the 27-year-old has been starved of ice time since joining the Edinburgh club in 1999. Before that, Ford was with Murrayfield Royals and a delighted Bauba said:

"I've played with Ryan for a few years and I know him very well. He is a good team guy and he'll be a great addition to the team."

Bauba, a former Pirates favourite, added: "I think Ryan will be one of the best, if not the best, goalie in our league."
