A PROFESSIONAL with one of the most famous surnames in golf – Donald Slicer – has retired as club pro at Kippie Lodge Sports & Country Club in Aberdeen.
A bad shoulder injury has forced former Falkirk Tryst club pro Slicer, 59, to quit the game. He has been a member of the PGA since 1965. As an amateur he had been runner-up twice in the Scottish assistants championship and third in the British assistants championship and Glasgow youths' champion.

After completing his PGA training, Slicer played on the European Tour from 1969 for a few years and won seven pro-ams on the Tartan Tour.
