MID and West made the most of home advantage to get off to winning starts in this season's Lothians & Fife Golf Associations Winter League.
In the opening round of matches, Mid beat East 4-0 at Liberton, while that was also the score as West entertained Fife at West Lothian. Dean Muir produced some sizzling golf at Liberton, the Dunbar man covering the 14 holes played in eight-under-par
as he beat Stuart Thorburn by 6 and 4.

But wins from John Gallagher, Stuart Smith, Mike Foley, Blair Pelling, Graeme Fraser and David Miller were enough to give the home side the points.

At West Lothian, Turnhouse star Steven Armstrong led the way for West as he carved out a 4 and 3 win over the useful Scott Michie.

Graham Robertson, James Ross, Tom Blennerhasset and Keith Reilly also won their matches, while Mark Timmins and Robert Carson both chipped in with halves.

In the next round of games, to be played on Sunday, October 26, Fife entertain Mid at Charleton, while East take on West at Castle Park.
