EDINBURGH Rugby have suspended internationalist Matt Mustchin for one match, it emerged today.
Second row Mustchin will miss Saturday's vital trip to Castres Olympique in the Heineken European Cup as a consequence of internal discipline stemming from his sin-binning for tripping in the later stages of last week's opening 16-27 defeat by Leinster at home.

Coach Andy Robinson said: "I was really disappointed with Matt being sin-binned in the manner he was.

"Having discussed it with the (team) leaders the right call is to leave him out for one match.

"Matt was disappointed with his actions. If you trip somebody on the pitch the law actually states you should be sent off.

"He has accepted the punishment and apologised to the squad.

"It is important as a squad we make a statement. We do have standards.

"It was an isolated incident. But an incident like that can have an effect on the result. In that last 10 minutes it stopped us putting any pressure on Leinster when we were still in the game.

"Matt's not a dirty player but it is right for us to make a statement then move on."
