Edinburgh University’s European Under-23 champion Rhona Auckland has been named in the elite British team to contest the World Cross Country Championships in Guiyang, China, on March 29.
Auckland, who has not raced since the Europeans in Bulgaria last December due to injury, is one of only two senior women in the side, the other being the European senior champion Gemma Steel (Charnwood).
The Banchory woman is also one of only three Scots in the overall party. The others are Andrew Butchart (Central AC) and Jonathan Glen (Inverclyde).
Butchart clinched his senior place by winning the British trial in Liverpool last Sunday while Glen was second in the junior trial as well as winning the Cross Challenge series.
