British Olympic marathon runner Freya Ross (Edinburgh AC), whose bid to compete for Scotland at Glasgow 2014 will hopefully be confirmed when additional names are announced early next month, will be back in action in the Capital on Sunday when she tackles the revamped BUPA Great Edinburgh Run in Holyrood Park.
Ross will face her already chosen Scottish rival Susan Partridge over the new distance of ten miles, along with fast-improving England hope Alyson Dixon (Sunderland).
Hampered by injury since she finished first Briton in London 2012, Ross said: “I just want to get a good hard run-out and see where I am fitness-wise.”
Rhona Auckland (Edinburgh University), the Scottish cross country champion, is concentrating on the Balmoral road races tomorrow where she is aiming for her third win in a row in the Conoco Phillips 5k.
Guest competitors could dominate the Scottish Universities Championships at Grangemouth tomorrow where Angus McInroy (Shettleston) will be out to bag his second Glasgow 2014 discus qualifying standard following his throw of 56.16m there last Sunday.
