FREYA ROSS has suffered a setback to her preparations for the 2014 Commonweath Games after suffering a stress fracture in her foot.
The Capital marathon specialist has been forced to pull out of the British team for next week’s Bupa Great Edinburgh cross-country in Holyrood Park after doctors ordered her to rest for at least three weeks.
Ross, top Briton in the 2012 Olympic Marathon, all but secured her place for Glasgow this summer by earning the qualifying time in Yokohama in November.
She hopes her injury won’t give her long-term problems. “I felt it hurting a couple of times during training runs, but it wasn’t bothering me,” said the Scot.
“It’s frustrating but “Hopefully it will heal quickly.”
