Edinburgh diver James Heatly won gold in the men’s 3 metre synchro event at the British Championships in Sheffield today.
Heatly, 19, was paired with Ross Haslam from the City of Sheffield Diving Club and the duo put in a great performance.
The Edinburgh Diving Club member and Haslam were on form from the first dive when they scored 47.40 points.
They then pieced together five more consistent dives to finish on 364.83 points.
That score was enough to see them edge out Freddie Woodward and Jack Haslam who were second with 363.60 points.
In third spot were Matty Lee and Anthony Harding with 325.23 points.
The victory gave Heatly, who appeared at the Commonwealth Games in 2014, a confidence boost ahead of the men’s 3 metre individual event today.
The prelims start at 11am with the final at 4pm while Grace Reid, also from Edinburgh, will be competing in the women’s 3 metre individual event on Sunday.
