European junior champion Josh Kerr and Commonwealth Youth Games medallist Carys Macaulay have been called into Scotland’s 4x1 mile team for Saturday’s Great Edinburgh XC.

Capital prospect Kerr will replace Guy Learmonth in the line-up for Holyrood Park, with Macaulay stepping in for Lynsey Sharp. The pair will join Neil Gourlay and Emily Dudgeon in the number two quartet with Steph Twell and Cameron Boyek promoted into the A squad along side Laura Muir and Jake Wightman.

And Lasswade star Learmonth today admitted he had to focus on his build-up to the Rio Olympics ahead of the forthcoming indoor season.

“Unfortunately, I had to pull out,” the UK 800m champion said. “I am going to go away to Portugal for a camp to prepare for indoors.”
